Delivery Options
An overarching goal of the Online IST curriculum was to provide courses that were modular and flexible. We wanted to be able to provide learning experiences that were not only high-level, but also appropriate to many different instructors and audiences. As part of this, the IST Solutions Institute has created three basic delivery models for all of the Online IST courses: Hybrid, Six-Week Hybrid, and World Campus.

Hybrid Option
The Online IST Hybrid model was designed to give faculty and students the best of both online and face-to-face course delivery methods. It is structured for a 15-week semester and can be utilized for Fall or Spring deliveries. Most sections of Online IST courses are for resident students and faculty who expect some face-to-face interaction. These students and faculty, however, are also very busy and represent a wide range of backgrounds and audiences. The online components give busy students and busy instructors
the flexibility to work outside a typical classroom schedule-without sacrificing the interaction necessary for a high level learning experience.

World Campus Option

For the World Campus option, the Solutions Institute takes the basic structure and content of an Online IST course including being organized into teams and completing the same high-level problem solving activities that are found in the Hybrid model. In most cases, the assignments remain the same as the Hybrid model.

Six-Week Hybrid Option
The Six-Week Hybrid model utilizes the same structure of the 15-week hybrid model, with the exception that it restructures the course for a six-week summer session. Over six weeks, of course, the number of assignments is decreased-however, the rigor and content coverage stay the same. In a Six-Week Hybrid model, there is generally only one overarching problem to solve. The other assignments stay roughly the same, but are on a highly compressed schedule.
