Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) has become a buzzword in the IT and business press, touting distinct competitive advantages that businesses can develop as a result. Leveraging the power of IT, businesses can adopt IT to implement strategies for reducing costs, and at the same time increasing the potential for growth. IST 421 builds upon the lessons learned in the prerequisite course IST 321: an understanding of the 'enterprise,' and awareness of the role of computer-based systems in the enterprise. It prepares the student for problem solving and strategy-building in the fast-changing area of EAI, training students to be leading IT consultants of the future. IST 421 discusses the integration technologies and architectures, models and methods for enterprise integration, and organizational issues related to IT integration.
